Yu Maeda graduated from Kyoto Seika University Department of Design. He has worked as a freelance animator for commercials, music videos, and other advertisements. In 2013, he moved to Southern California and started his career as a painter, with articles in art magazines such as Hi-Fructose and Juxtapoz magazine. In 2019, he had his first solo exhibition at Superchief Galley in LA. After returning to Japan in 2020, he is based in Tokyo and exhibits his work both in Japan and abroad.
He creates works based on his own interpretation of the relationship between creatures, such as the physical food chain, and at the same time, creatures as symbols from fables and myths.
